Rune Halvorsen
Research and
teaching interests:
Social marginality has been a main topic in his
publications. Recently he has contributed to the
development of improved subject or agency perspectives in welfare-policy
research. Rune Halvorsen's research interests
include comparative welfare policy, analysis of social movement
mobilisation and coping strategies among disabled people and social security
claimants in Western Europe. He has previously
published on coping strategies and self-organisation among Norwegian Travellers
(a Roma like population) and their relationship to public authorities after the
former official assimilation policy was abolished in the 1980's. He has also
published on the recent tendency in Western European countries
to recognise and provide legal protection for housholds/families
different from the 'nuclear family'.
